We’re looking for a User Experience Research Leader to join our growing team of designers, researchers and strategists. In this role, you will connect dots across several teams and journeys; planning, preparing and executing impactful research and strategy to transform the way consumers access and utilize their health benefits. You will help lead and direct a team of talented researchers to define agent, payer, employer and consumer journeys, identifying optimal strategies to drive growth and efficiency, and build trust with our customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Work directly with consumers, employers and customer service agents to define how a premium healthcare benefits experience looks and feels and translate those findings into actionable next steps for design, product and engineering
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product owners/managers and designers to ensure the solutions we ship are aligned with users’ needs and goals
- Evangelize the value of UX Research & Strategy, focusing on business value and friction reduction
- Execute strategic and tactical research across 1-2 large pillars of the business
- As the team grows, mentor a group of junior researchers, supporting them in work prioritization, methodological selection and insights translation
- Work with adjacent research teams to create a cadence for collaboration/sharing

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of professional UX research experience
- Experience applying generative and formative research methods to complex business questions and solutions
- Experience translating insights into actionable recommendations that drive impact for the business
- Experience with remote testing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, HCI, Psychology or a related field
- Advanced degree in HCI, Psychology, Industrial Design or a related field
- Experience applying (Rapid Iterative Testing and Evaluation) RITE methods to tactical research questions
- Experience testing in lab environments
- Experience working in a product-focused environment
- Experience working in healthcare and/or finance verticals
- Experience in Design Thinking methods and utility
- Experience participating in Design Sprints
- Experience conducting accessibility research across channels
- Experience building and scaling research teams (or supporting this process)
- Proven solid moral compass and commitment to our values of inclusion, empowerment, and trust
- Demonstrated sense of empathy for others, both end users and your collaborators
- Ability/desire to collaborate across teams and partner types

The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $85,000 to $167,300. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
