Role:
  • Must demonstrate their ability to properly test the equipment for which they have a Certificate of Fitness.
  • Document the results of each test and submit the results to the Fire Department for review and follow up.
  • The information is required to clearly show what was tested, how it was tested and the performance criteria required for each component or segment of the test.
  • Certified testers are not employees of the fire department and are not firefighters or inspectors. They are only given authority to test and submit the results to the fire department.
  • Requiring system upgrades, additional installations, performing fire code inspections or citing fire code violations is outside the scope of practice of Certified Testers.
  • Although, not an acting member Los Angeles City Fire Department in this role, you are considered to be representatives of the Department; therefore you will be expected to be a honest individuals who will reflect positively on the Fire Department or the Chief’s Regulation No. 4 Program.

Job Requirements:
  • Educate commercial clients on your process.
  • Present yourself as a Trusted Advisor to your clients.
  • Spend the day primarily in the field, acting independently.
  • Document defects in the system and recommend multiple repair levels to clients.
  • Troubleshoot in areas that fit into the scope of your license.
  • Responsible for maintaining your service truck with proper inventory and utilizing inventory management to document.
  • Familiarity with Service Titan is a plus.

Job Qualifications:
All Chief's Regulation No. 4 Tester licenses or a portion of the licenses below and willing to apply for more.
  • Class I Dry Standpipe System.
  • Class II Wet Standpipe System.
  • Class III Standpipe System.
  • Combined Standpipe & Auto Sprinkler System.
  • Fire Pumps.
  • Basic Fire Alarm.
  • Supervising Central Station.
  • Automatic Closing Fire Assemblies.
  • Automatic Sprinkler Systems.
  • Class II Wet Standpipe System.
  • Fire Escape Assemblies.
  • U.S citizen or have the authorization to work Or Title 19 experience in all the above.

Specific Skills Needed:
  • Experience with fire protection and life preserving systems.
  • Maintain and pursue industry certifications and licenses.
  • Capable usage of the tools of the trade.
  • Payed-for-Performance motivated.
  • Comfortable with Apple iPads.
  • Comfortable with heights.
  • Trusted Advisor.

Working Conditions:
  • Flexible with different start and stop times.
  • Ability to lift 40lbs up to 10 times a day.
  • Outdoor work (all seasons) required.
