Department Profile:
Ginsburg Surgical Services, an 8 Suite Surgery Center and an 18-bed recovery unit specializing in the care of Neurosurgical patients, spanning from infants to adults. Our team is comprised of experienced surgeons, operating room nurses, critical care nurses, surgical technologists, and anesthesiologists all with the primary goal of providing high-quality, individualized care. One of the 8 suites is the "InnovatOR" designed to allow any surgical specialty the opportunity to partner with top surgical vendors around the world to design new and state of the art tools to better care for patients. This world class unit also has an Intra-operat! ive MRI and CT to better allow our physicians diagnostic capability intra-operatively, which ultimately allows the team to better care for our patients.

Job Summary:
As a Neurosurgery RIO/PACU Health Unit Coordinator, you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a faith-based atmosphere.

The Health Unit Coordinator, under the direct supervision of the nurse manager or charge nurse, performs general non-clinical duties and specific services necessary to expedite the efficient functioning of the unit consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures in the unit and hospital.

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge Skills, Education & Experience Required:
Demonstrates ability to ! communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending Eng! lish effectively in order to carry out job requirements.

Knowledge of Medical Terminology (preferred)

Computer skills (preferred)

High School Diploma or GED (preferred)

Previous experience in an acute care hospital setting. (preferred)

Completion of a Health Unit Coordinator Course (preferred)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
None

Job Responsibilities:
Answers the phone, intakes information accurately and in a timely manner, and is able to handle various job tasks simultaneously.

Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Performs various non-clinical duties, using knowledge of medical terminology as appropriate.

Maintains the work environment in a clean and orderly fashion. Manages office supplies and paperwork. Ensures inventory levels are maintained and supplies are ordered.

Enters and/or communicates necessary ph! ysician orders and to obtain results for the physician/RN to maintain proper care of the patient.

Performs accurate and timely data and or charge entry. Utilizes computer systems to access patient information. Maintains patient records as required for the department.

Supports the customer and employee satisfaction activities of the organization. Maintains good relationships with physicians, management, other departments, and staff.

Performs other duties as requested to ensure efficient operation of Surgical Services. May include covering the duties of other secretarial roles within the department.
