Department Profile:!
Our Surgical Services practice offers the best of both worlds - a close-knit community setting and a high-volume of various cases. The dynamic, high-volume Operating Room features 14 surgical suites, with four rooms equipped with laminar flow and dedicated to orthopaedics, but they can be used for general surgery if needed. There is also a suite dedicated for laparoscopic abdominal surgeries. Our campus is home to the renowned Orthopaedic Institute of Florida Hospital. Our other units include PACU, Endoscopy, Pre-Admission, and Rapid In and Out.

Work Hours/Shifts:
Monday- Friday 6am- 2:30pm and call in.

Job Summary:
As an Anesthesia Tech with Florida Hospital Winter Park, you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a faith-based atmosphere. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager or Director the Anesthesia tech assists the licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation! and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia. Anesthesia technicians provide support in anesthesia for routine and complex surgical cases. They provide this service by preparing and maintaining patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during and after anesthesia. The role includes equipment maintenance and servicing such as cleaning, sterilizing, assembling, calibrating and testing, troubleshooting, requisitioning and recording of inspections and maintenance of anesthesia equipment. Under direct supervision of the Anesthesia provider they may operate a variety of mechanical, pneumatic and electronic equipment used to monitor, evaluate and manage the patient undergoing anesthesia. The anesthesia tech will participate in OR / Procedure room turnover and will perform activities as directed to ensure efficiency and safe patient care in the Surgery/Procedure environment. Responsible for supply and inventor! y management, including stocking of non-narcotics medications. Actively! participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Skills, Education & Experience Required:
Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements. Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification Ability to set priorities and respond to stressful situations (preferred) Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure in a stressful environment (preferred). Experience working with patients in a acute care setting or operating room(preferred) High School diploma or GED (preferred)

License, Certification or Registration Required:
Non-certified Anesthesia Tech: American Society of Anesthesia Technologists a nd Technicians (ASATT) Certification (preferred )

Job Responsibilities:
Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital's cor! e values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork. Under the direction of the Anesthesiologist or CRNA assists anesthesia professional staff as requested: Assists in preparation and draping of patient for invasive monitoring/ procedures by licensed anesthesia providers. Assists and anticipates needs of licensed anesthesia providers in invasive monitor insertion and procedures such as pulmonary artery catheter, central venous access, regional anesthesia, fiberoptic intubation and is familiar with the ASA Difficult Airway Algorithm. Anticipates need for invasive monitoring according to daily OR schedule. Aids in preparation of patients for major invasive monitoring and/ or complex cases including but not limited to placement of BP cuff, ECG leads, Pulse Oximeter, positioning. Sets up OR for cases which may include the following: Preparation of laryngoscope and intubation equipment, IV solution and tubing set-up and set up of IV warming devices.! Participates in the process for blood component verification as needed! . Makes available, assembles, and assists with operation of specialized equipment such as humidification units; fiberoptic endoscopic equipment; rapid infusion devices/blood warmers; patient warming devices; neuromuscular devices; infusion pumps and syringes; balloon pump initial setups and TEE setup. Maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment, equipment, supplies and personnel to facilitate department functions. Maintains the availability of necessary equipment in each operating room. Participates in room turnovers to ensure efficient flow of cases. Provides peri-operative technical support to the anesthesia professional staff for delivery of patient care Demonstrates detailed technical knowledge and troubleshooting ability for anesthesia delivery system, scavenger system, gas analyzer, EKG, pulse oximeter and any other anesthesia related equipment. Responds to and investigates all anesthesia machine alarms. Ensures preventative maintenance is completed as required! . Reports malfunctioning equipment and follows through to ensure replacement. Inventories, orders and maintains departmental supply stock consistent with departmental demand. Cognizant of where supplies are kept and is able to obtain or stock them accordingly. Maintains the sterile supplies and medications within the expiration date. Ensures medications are secured at all times. Properly disposes of used medications. Monitors refrigerators utilized for stock of medications. Promotes a safe environment. Demonstrates appropriate action in emergency situations, demonstrates awareness and control of hazards which may endanger patients, visitors and employees, identifies and reports environmental concerns to the management team. Ensures adherence to appropriate regulatory standards and Florida Hospital policy and procedures evidenced by maintaining appropriate documentation as required. Demonstrates knowledge of all Joint Commission standards that impact the anesthesia support r! ole. Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of ! PPE, performs hand washing according to policy and enforces safety regulations. Strictly adheres to all infection control practices. Demonstrates knowledge of decontamination and disinfection principles related to anesthesia equipment. Provides training and orientation to staff and new personnel. Maintains competency by attending departmental inservice training. Certified Anesthesia Techs attend approved inservice education to maintain certification.
