The primary role and responsibility of this position is to protect people, property, information, and the reputation of Park Nicollet Health Services. This position will represent Park Nicollet Health Services, performing duties in a courteous and professional manner that conveys a positive image of the organization and that fosters cooperation and support with staff, patients, visitors, and external agencies.
This position will respond to a wide variety of routine public service and emergency support calls requiring various problem solving techniques, judgment, verbal de-escalation and appropriate use of force.
This position requires the ability to independently manage work, completing the duties outlined in this job description and other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
1. FBI/BCA background check required upon hire. Approval for continued employment is dependent on this background result.
2. Minimum high school graduate or equivalent and one or more of the following educational or experience requirements:
- 2 or 4-year degree in Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice or currently in a degree program.
- Previous experience in healthcare security.
- Previous law enforcement or public safety experience.
- Previous customer service.
- Military experience as applicable.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills required.
- Strong time management and organizational skills required.
Special Knowledge/Skills/Certifications/Licenses:
1. Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.
2. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills required.

a. Successful completion of the New Officer 25-day Training Program, including:
i. Departmental Verbal De-escalation Training
ii. Departmental Defensive Tactics Training
b. Required within 12 months of hire:
i. Departmental Expandable Baton Training
ii. Departmental Chemical Irritant Training
iii. Departmental Electronic Incapacitation Device Training (EID)
iv. FEMA ICS 100 (Introduction to the Incident Command System)
v. FEMA ICS 200 (Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents)
vi. FEMA ICS 700 (National Incident Management System Introduction)
vii. FEMA ICS 906 (Workplace Security Awareness)
viii. FEMA ICS 907 (Active Shooter-What You Can Do)

Starting at $23/hr, with shift and weekend pay increases.
