Under general supervision, performs secretarial, billing, and a variety of general office functions which include reception and scheduling of patients for multi discipline professionals within the Department of Rehabilitation Services.

Answers and handles a heavy volume of incoming calls. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills. Performs patient scheduling for all disciplines and programs included in the Department of Rehabilitation Services. Greets patients and assures they are taken care of in a timely manner. Makes patient appointment schedules. Registers patients and assures they are taken care of in a timely manner. Manages meeting schedules, therapist schedules, and front office staff schedules. Maintains record keeping and departmental files; sorts and distributes mail and other documents; processes patient charts for transfer to medical records. Picks up voice mail messages throughout the day according to department policy and procedure. Makes photocopies as required. Orders and maintains office supplies as required. Prepares and maintains statistical information for the department as required. Processes all credit card payments and payments received from patients. Solves patient service issue problems. Proofs billing/computer data as required. Requests insurance authorization for treatment, procedures and/or consultations. Verifies insurance eligibility, benefits and coverage. Evaluates and makes positive suggestions for change in the environment. Scans patient documents in EMR as needed. Monitors incoming referrals via the fax machine.
