About Houston-Galveston Area Council
The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.
We make decisions that affect our transportation system, ensure the safety and well-being of older adults and individuals with disabilities, connect people to jobs, help families recover from natural disasters, preserve water quality for our children, and so much more. We work to make the region a great place to live, work, and thrive.
What will I be doing?
- Point of contact with community contractors in the region
- Evaluate consumer applications to determine their eligibility
- Review and process contractor service delivery authorizations
- Review and process contractor invoices for payment
- Track contractor monthly performance
- Assist with annual contractor monitoring
- Assist with contractor training
- Update and maintain consumer information and service delivery data in the State information management system
- Maintain consumer and contractor digital records
- Maintain regular communication with community contractors
- Traveling within 12 county region approximately 10% of the time
Key Qualifications
- Capacity to multi-task and process a high volume of work
- Organized and ability to manage their time
- Critical and analytical thinking
- Ability to problem solve
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Ability to work well with a team
- Communicate verbally and in writing.
- Experience providing customer service
- Knowledgeable of human services programs, preferred
Do you have…
- Bachelor’s degree with an internship in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
- At least 1 year of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties
