Position Summary:
The Jr Purchasing Agent reports to the Manager, Purchasing and Procurement and supports all company parcel and freight locations. Performs purchasing duties necessary to tactically plan and procure supplies, materials, equipment, PPE, goods, and services for all depot locations.
Essential Duties:
- Collect, reviews, and processes purchase orders and shipping documents to ensure accuracy.
- Places purchase orders for goods and services in support of the business plan.
- Expedites purchase orders as required.
- Prepping and schedule shipments out of consigned inventory.
- Work with Account Payables to resolve issues pertaining to purchase orders: receiving, invoicing discrepancies and timely closure of purchase orders.
- Maintain inventory standards.
- Experience in relationship management of outside services in areas of janitorial and safety.
- Ensures that service level agreements are being followed by our vendors.
- Maintain vendor relationships, analyze sales trends, and customer order patterns to forecast. future purchasing requirements.
- Negotiates improved pricing, product quality, and delivery.
- Coordinates with suppliers and internal customers regarding any supplier performance issues.
- Monitor suppliers' performance and ensures supply plans and standards are being met.
- Investigates and resolves receiving and payment issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills Requirement:
- Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Highly organized, Have ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work and thrive under time constraints and juggle/prioritize responsibilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Microsoft Dynamics GP experience is preferred, but not required.
Education and Experience Requirement:
- One year experience is buying/sourcing is preferred.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, supply chain, transportation, or logistics setting.
