Job Description and Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Campus Safety Officer is to be the first response to emergencies and other problems in the facility. Is responsible for assuring the general security of facility and residents. Completes necessary physical plant repairs and routine work assignments. Follows all safety regulations and practices according to Duncaster policies and procedures.


Duties and Responsibilities

The following description of duties and responsibilities are intended to reflect the essential functions and duties of the job. It is not intended to describe the minor duties and responsibilities which may be assigned at times.

  • Performs two (2) campus safety security rounding’s per shift, and documents in current security software.
  • Immediately reports any an all-emergency situation to the “On-Call” manager and other leadership staff as needed.
  • Performs routine security duties of facility and grounds, including vehicular patrols of all Duncaster properties.
  • Performs security lock down of entire facility as scheduled. Locks all ground floor doors and windows and meets all lockdown requirements.
  • Responsible for installation and control of security lockouts.
  • Acts as a first responder to emergencies and other problems in facility and takes appropriate action.
  • Performs scheduled routine preventative maintenance.
  • Performs initial repairs and troubleshooting of resident and staff work orders and requests.
  • Communicates with supervisor, status of all assigned workorders.
  • Completes all necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Recognizes when others need assistance and offers to help. Assists individuals with information or directions whenever requested.
  • Contributes to meeting the fluctuating staffing needs of the department as evidenced by flexibility in own assignments and work schedules as evidenced by supervisor observation.
  • Demonstrates dependability by completing all commitments and responsibilities within requested time frames.
  • Maximizes job potential by attending all mandatory education and in-service programs as indicated by attendance records.
  • Maintains privacy and confidentiality to ensure that the dignity and respect of the resident and others is maintained.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Must be able to handle emergency situations in an effective and calm manner.
  • Must have general knowledge of security procedures.
  • Must have general knowledge of first aid.
  • Must have general knowledge of emergency snow removal procedures.
  • Must have valid Class D driver’s license with no major violations or restrictions.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, the English language in an understandable manner.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.


Environment and Working Conditions

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 4feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 10 feet.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation during emergency situations.
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, disease, conditions, etc., including TB, AIDS and the Hepatitis B virus.
  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motions for various duties.
  • Position requires prolonged standing, bending and sitting as required for various duties.

Hours

32 Hours, 3rd shift

Thursday, Friday: 12 Midnight - 8:00am

Saturday: 4:00pm-12 Midnight or 12 Midnight to 8:00am

Sunday: 4:00pm-Midnight
