3 part time positions (evening and weekend)
We have three part time opportunities for enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced cooks/catering assistants to join our cafe team based at the Woolworths Distribution Centre (Countdown) in Sydenham, Christchurch. The positions are sole charge, working the evening or weekend shifts, taking over after the Chef Manager has clocked off.
The positions we are recruiting for are as follows:
In these positions you will be carrying out food preparation, basic cooking and reheating, serving customers, keeping the café clean, and closing and cashing up at the end of the day.
To be successful you will need:
The Cook will need to have experience to prepare the full day’s menu and cabinet options, whilst the Catering Assistant will be mostly serving and reheating pre-prepared items. Think tasty, wholesome meals that our customers can order and eat in a short time frame before their next shift starts.

- Cook: Saturday 6.30am – 12noon and Sunday 6.30am – 3pm
- Catering Assistant: Monday to Friday 3pm – 7pm
- Catering Assistant: Sunday 3pm – 7pm

To be successful you will need:
- a passion for food and enjoy working with customers to keep them coming back for more
- previous experience in food preparation, and knowledge of food safety and hygiene
- experience in café and cafeteria style food services
- to be friendly and engaging, hard-working and flexible
- to be confident to work unsupervised and resolve any problems that arise
- to be able to operate Eftpos and POS machine with a smile, and cash-up at end of shift
- maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment
- great communication skills and a can-do attitude.
