Why you want to be a Line Manager at Chief Rebel
How we work is just as important as what we do. Status and title are less important than working together, collaborating, and making the best possible games. We encourage different perspectives and solutions. We love passionate discussions that unleash everyone’s potential.
As a Line Manager, you will have the chance to make an impact on a studio level, by being the manager for our Code team, by being part of a team of people who strive to build a studio with the best collaboration and communication.
About the role
We are looking for a Line Manager who can help our team of talented developers continue to grow their confidence and abilities. You will work closely with the development team, being responsible for 1on1s, mentoring and coaching, performance and salary reviews, and recruitment/interviewing as needed. Communication is important in this role, as you will be the connector between the developers and the production team.
Being a good communicator is not only about talking and being friendly, it’s also about listening, observing, mining for conflicts and seeking commitment. It’s important that you see the individuals in our team, that you are a culture champion, allow people to be themselves and encourage an open culture for people to share their opinions.
What you will bring
This is not an entry level position. Ideal candidates have experience working as a Manager across disciplines and knowledge of the Five Dysfunctions. You have a passion for helping people develop in their careers through mentorship and coaching. You like working together with HR, production, and dev teams to help create the best environment for growth and success.
To succeed in this role, you need to:
- Be comfortable managing a team of employees across disciplines
- Have experience with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding
- Evaluate performance alongside Team Leads, production, and Directors
- Work with setting salaries and holding salary reviews
- Be human, see the individuals on our team and help make sure they are appreciated
- Be open to others’ perspectives and welcome feedback
- Mine for conflict and seek solutions that align with the project goals
