The North Florida/South
Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS) is currently recruiting for a
full-time Physician
interested in a career in academic Anesthesiology and Pain Management. The position is located in Anesthesiology/Pain Clinic at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. The NF/SGVHS is affiliated with health care
programs at the University of Florida, College of Medicine and is a major
integrated training site for Anesthesiology resident education at the
University of Florida. The Pain Clinic
is the primary training site for the Department of AnesthesiologyÂ's Pain
Management Fellowship Program and for the core programÂ's Anesthesiology
residents. NF/SG houses a! patient

KEY REQUIREMENTS
Must pass pre-employment examination.
Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required.
Background and/or Security Investigation required. DUTIES:
Incumbent
will be expected to provide pain management care for patients with acute,
chronic and cancer pain using pharmacologic and interventional means as well as
multidisciplinary approaches including psychological, physical, occupational
and other therapies. Incumbent will also be expected to provide all aspects of
chronic pain management (including radiofrequency rhizotomy, surgical
impla! ntation of intrathecal pumps and spinal cord stimulators and should be !
proficient in the management of complex pain syndromes.
After
hours care coverage of Pain Management patients is not currently required, but
may become necessary with development of an invasive pain management program
and will be shared with other pain management trained physicians in the NF/SG
VHS. The incumbent will have major teaching responsibilities for both residents
and fellows.
Tour
of Duty: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light lifting and carrying; reaching above the shoulder; use of fingers and both hands; walking; correctable vision and hearing; mental and emotional stability . QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following:
Basic Requirements :
U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Mu! st be proficient in written and spoken English.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred applicants will be board certified in anesthesiology and pain management, have completed an ACGME accredited fellowship in Pain Management with additiona lcertification in Anesthesiology-Pain Management, and have at least 2 years' experience following completion of a Pain Management fellowship. Prior experience teaching residents and fellows and administration of residency and/or fellowship programs is also preferred.
Incumbent will receive a conjunctive clinical faculty appointment at the University of Florida which requires eligibility for the rank of Associ! ate or Full Professor.
