King County’s Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS), Children, Youth & Young Adults Division (CYYA) is seeking an energetic and hardworking individual to join our team in an exciting Career Service position. This Administrative Specialist II position is responsible for providing customer service to the public, and administrative support to office staff. We are seeking a team-oriented individual who is customer-focused, innovative, adaptable, and self-motivated. The successful candidate must have excellent and reliable attendance, stellar customer service skills in person and over the telephone (discretion, patience, etiquette, and professionalism), and be an independent self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills.
ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION:
- This position has been designated Non-Mission Critical. Unless otherwise directed by the County Executive, department director or agency head, all employees, regardless of designation, are expected to report to work or request leave during an emergency or inclement weather. - Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek; schedule is 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday and is overtime eligible with supervisory pre-approval.
- The work associated with this position will require the selected candidate to work onsite supporting youth and young adult clients at The Center for Education and Career Opportunities (CECO) 16101 Greenwood Ave N Shoreline, WA 98133.

Ensure that information, activities, and outcomes are entered into the Employment and Education Resources’ database(s).

Create, maintain, and review files and database reports to ensure that information from all sources is accurate and internally consistent.

Ensure that data entry into the system and reports are accurate. May review the data entry of other staff into this system.

Assist in the preparation and certification of participant files as required by federal and state audits.

Provide back-up support for CYYA Front desk locations: Greet customers and visitors at the CYYADS Sites.

Create a welcoming environment virtually and in person to people calling or visiting the department and connect them to the relevant resources.

Provide administrative support to the CYYA team.

Have strong customer service skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.

Demonstrate experience in utilizing a database or databases including thorough understanding of all screens, definitions, and data entry procedures.

Can work in a team environment and complete all tasks in an effective and efficient manner.

Have intermediate proficiency in the use of personal computers, with working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

Are skilled in the operation of a variety of office equipment.

Can prioritize workload, work under pressure with tight timelines and changing priorities, and simultaneously work on multiple assignments.

Demonstrate ability to understand and execute complex verbal and written instructions and maintain confidentiality.

Have experience in basic mathematics, organizational skills, and research skills.

Have strong writing skills, including proper usage of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Have excellent reading comprehension, reasoning, writing and oral communication skills.

Ability to provide excellent customer service and public relations skills in a diverse work environment.
