Sheridan Healthcorp, Inc. has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced National Medical Director of Clinical Quality Improvement to provide support in the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area.

The National Medical Director of Clinical Quality! Improvement is responsible for providing an objective and sys! tematic process to evaluate, maintain and enhance the quality of patient care functions and services provided throughout the Anesthesia Division by championing the development, implementation and oversight of the Quality Management Program.

The National Medical Director of Clinical Quality Improvement ensures the Company's mission to provide consistent clinical analysis to its internal customers and client base and serves as senior clinical advisor to the Quality Management Program to ensure maximum benefit is received, both internally and externally.

The National Medical Director identifies guidelines related to healthcare activities and provides feedback on performance against prevailing professional standards to client healthcare facilities and anesthesia service providers.

The National Medical Director has the task of leading and guiding Anesthesiologists and Allied Health providers on critical clinical initiatives, serving as a clinical leade! r in the Anesthesia Division and Chairman of the Anesthesia Quality Committee, providing oversight and management of clinical areas, functions, programs, projects, including clinical quality improvement program planning and implementation.

The National Medical Director is highly collaborative and consensus-building across the Company, particularly with Operations and the Informatics management team, and functions as an influencer with regard to the Chiefs of Anesthesia Services and the perioperative healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

Leads clinical quality program oversight of hospital and ambulatory care anesthesia services, collaborating with the Director of Quality Management and Regulatory Affairs regarding quality issues, identified performance improvement and risk and case management.

Creates synergies between client staff and anesthesia services ensuring leadership accountability and direction to achieve the success of the Quality ! Management Program.

Reduces practice variation in the delivery! of anesthesia services and sub-specialty care.

Maximizes performance on quality measures, and provide internal quality improvement consultation across Company practices.

Serves as Chairman of the Anesthesia Quality Committee

Identifies relevant quality of care issues

Analyzes aggregate complaint and adverse event data quarterly and annually and determines trends

Reviews clinical indicators and monitoring of the same

Guides the work of the AQC subcommittees and workgroups

Sets annual goals for the committee and group

Reports Quality Program Planning and Progress to the Executive Committee in collaboration with the Director of Quality Management and Regulatory Affairs and the President of the Anesthesia Division.

Reviews provider specific data as needed or required by threshold determinations and makes recommendations for corrective action plans to Executive Committee and Peer Review Committee. !

Reviews monitoring reports to ascertain effectiveness of corrective action plans.

Identifies quality of care issues with the Director of Quality Management and Regulatory Affairs as needed.

Recommends thresholds and corrective action plan guidelines for the Peer Review process.

Helps establish, implement and monitor Evidence Based Medicine best practices and practice guidelines.

Develops and implements quality improvement initiatives consistent with the following criteria: Expected to positively impact health outcomes, Will affect a substantial number of patients, Expected to reduce a significant risk, In keeping with currently available clinical guidelines, Fiscally responsible.

Improves staff knowledge through in-service training and continuing education programs.

Recommends informal provider counseling or education to improve, when appropriate.

Makes recommendations to improve systems, including chan! ges in: Policies and procedures, Clinical guidelines, Staffing or budge! t, Equipment or facilities.

Qualifications

Possess a thorough knowledge of medicine and the role quality management and physician championship plays in oversight, governance and improvement initiatives.

Understand regulatory requirements specifically related to healthcare delivery and accrediting standards (The Joint Commission, CMS, Det Norske Veritas, AAAHC, etc)

Experience in developing Standard Operating Procedures and Protocols for clinical care settings

Understand guiding principles of healthcare data collection, review and analysis.

Experience working with the electronic data capture systems including electronic health records.

Experience evaluating new data standards, technologies, and systems.

Experience in solving complex and increasingly difficult problems related to processes across multiple care settings.

Possess effective written and verbal communication skills necessary to intera! ct with personnel at all levels within and external to the company.

Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment and flexibility; possesses effective time management and organizational skills; and able to work under deadlines and on multiple projects simultaneously.

Education/Experience

Board certified MD or DO (ABA, ABIM, ABS, AOBIM, etc.)

Minimum 10 years in clinical area of practice, Anesthesia preferred.

Minimum 5 years' experience in leading hospital, health plan or large hospital-based physician group practice quality improvement programs and physician peer review.

Excellent interpersonal skills

Experience working with the electronic data capture systems including electronic health records analysis.

Experience evaluating new clinical data standards, clinical technologies, and systems

Experience in solving complex and increasingly difficult problems related to processes across multiple care set! tings.
