Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, supported by the Arnold Palmer Medical Center Foundation, is a 285-bed facility dedicated exclusively to th! e needs of women and babies. The hospital includes comprehensive fetal diagnostics and labor and delivery services, a regional center for neonatal intensive care, maternal intensive care and women's services. Annually, more than 13,000 babies are expected to be born at Winnie Palmer Hospital, making it the busiest labor and delivery unit in the state of Florida. An extraordinary Orlando Health facility, home to leading physicians, surgeons and specialists, as well as one of the nation's largest and most successful neonatal intensive care units.
Job Description:
MD needed for Mid-December 2013 or by January 1, 2014
(will consider earlier start for an outstanding candidate in September). Prefer a recent graduate that is early in his/her career as opposed to someone that has been in practice 5 or more years.
Salary:
Base Compensation of $260,000 to $280,000 and at least $42,000 for weekend call
Benefits:
6 weeks o! f time out per year (prorated for less than full year), $3k/yr! . for CME expenses
Relocation: negotiable, up to $5,000 w/promissory note
Interview Expenses: airfare/lodging covered
Number of Beds Varies - covering 2 hospitals (Winnie Palmer Hospital and South Seminole Hospital)
and 5 outpatient surgery centers (Florida Surgery Center, Sand Lake Surgery Center,
Orlando Orthopedic Outpatient Surgery Center, Blue Springs Surgery Center & Orlando
Center of Outpatient Surgery)
Number of OR's - ASCs typically have 4-6, South Seminole has 5, and Winnie Palmer has
roughly 8-12 ob and gyn suites. Off site ASC's, Cath Labs, IR. 16 Current Anesthesiologists
Approximately >10% of Anesthesiologist doing their own cases.
In house and beeper call: Physician will be expected to cover 1 weekend call rotation per month:
Winnie Palmer Hospital - Weekend Call Rotation
The Winnie Palmer weekend call is Friday 4:00 p.m. to Saturday 6:30 a.m., Saturday 6:30 p.m! . to Sunday
6:30 a.m., and Sunday 6:30 p.m. to Monday 6:30 a.m. This is an in-house call obligation. Compensation
for this coverage is included in the Base Compensation.
South Seminole Hospital - Weekend Call Rotation
The South Seminole weekend call rotation is Friday 6:30 a.m. to Monday 6:30 a.m. Call may be covered
via beeper with a one-hour response time from notification to case start time. Compensation for this
coverage is included in the Base Compensation.
Physician will also be responsible for covering up to four 4 1/2 day Saturdays at:
Orlando Center for Outpatient Surgery (OCOS) ASC Coverage
This OCOS assignment is up to four (4) Saturdays per annum for which coverage is between 7 a.m. and
11:30 a.m. Cases are limited to 9 to 11 cases during this time. The compensation for this assignment is in
addition to Physician's Base Compensation and will be paid at One Hundred and Twenty Five Dollars per
hour (! $125.00/hour). These OCOS hours will not count toward those required fo! r your base
compensation.
Rotation:
Weekday: group has dedicated physicians to take weekday call so any weekday call coverage would be rare (maybe a 2 -3 weeks a year or just a few Thursdays) to cover for the physicians that normally are assigned weekday call.
Weekends: 1 weekend per month (plus up to four (4) half-day Saturdays at Orlando Center of Outpatient Surgery.
Typically, you are off post call. May have to work and be first out in home order if staffing levels are critical for some reason (rare). Daily Hours: Varies depending on daily assignment; ASC typically have first case no sooner than 6:30 a.m., Hospital coverage typically starts at 6:15-6:30 a.m.
Types of Cases: Varies: Winnie Palmer (OB and GYN), South Seminole (Acute Care Adult General Surgery), and ASC (largely orthopedic, GI, and general outpatient surgery). Provider is required to do General anesthesia skills, OB, regional blocks.
TEE proficiency or certification not required.
DEA and CDS are required.
Privileges take 60-90 days once a completed application is submitted to the facility for review.
