SUMMARY: The Director, Anesthesia Clinical Systems manages all aspects of the clinical systems specific to testing, roll-out, implementation support, and training. Manages, coordin! ates, and oversees the administration of all clinical and administrative support staff including the Support and Testing teams. Provides clinical and administrative direction for all facets of Clinical Systems. Clinical systems include but not limited to Quantum Navigation System and its associated or related Hospital based EMR interfaces and the Anesthesia divisionâs billing platform. Formulates and implements policies and procedures, and participates in strategic decision-making. The position will oversee and direct all Quantum implementations, as well as participate in the Physician Q/A Committee. Strong communication skills, problem solving techniques and the ability to adapt to the specific needs of a given group of physicians is required. A liaison/coordinator between clinicians and the clinical system team both clinically and technically.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the collaborative effort between operations, IS, bil! ling, coding department and Clinical Services in the developme! nt, rollout, testing implementation and training of the clinical system.
- Manages and keeps track of the necessary enhancements / bugs fixes needed in the current version of the Clinical System, including requests from individual sites. Coordinates with the IS and other related departments as needed to implement the changes.
- Develop and maintain liaison with key systems users; assist users in prioritizing new development projects, enhancement projects for existing systems, and system maintenance requests; recommend projects to management and users for approval.
- Directs and guide the detailed design and development activities for all Clinical Information Systems; estimate staff resource needs for Support Analysts, Information Specialists, and Clinical Information Specialists, Audit specialists, and front end support personnel, oversee team member work assignments and schedules; review documentation for completion and compliance with standard operati! ng procedures.
- Maintain liaison with professional organizations and ongoing continuing education to ensure utilization of current principles, techniques and policies to maintain and enhance all of the Clinical Information Systems.
- Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, work assignments, performance appraisals, promotions and disciplinary actions.
- Knowledge of clinical objectives, methods, procedures, and standards within area of expertise.
- Coordinates the testing across departments for all new clinical system applications.
- Initiates contact with Medical Directors and at each site to facilitate the installation of the clinical system.
- Provides ongoing updates to the status report for Medical Directors at each site.
- Provides ongoing site specific information to site as requested.
- Coordinates monthly meetings with individuals, staff, support and help desk personnel. !
- Manages all support issues generated by the physicians regarding c! linical systems by ensuring that all requests are screened, prioritized, and implemented in an efficient and timely manner.
- Manages the maintenance of the clinical system as required to keep lists current and standardized amongst facilities.
- Manages on-site visits to facilitate installation of the clinical system, providing educational inservices to all clinicians at the site level.
- Oversees ongoing education for the clinicians and corporate staff through, E-mail, follow-up phone calls, educational handouts and web demos, etc.
- Provides prompt, courteous, professional and accurate information in all communications dealing with physicians and other departments.
- Responds to department needs by accepting additional assignments which may or may not be related to the jobâs primary responsibilities, to ensure the continuity of department services and to demonstrate a commitment to department objectives.
- Responsible for follow! ing all facility, organization and department precautions and procedures in the performance of all job duties to ensure a safe work environment for self and others.
- Maintains up to date compliance training as required.
- Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Clinical experience in hospital setting. Education preferred: Masterâs degree and clinical experience in anesthesia as a CRNA, AA or equivalent.
- Must have a minimum of 4 years clinical or healthcare environment experience, 2 years supervisory experience, and 2 years of information systems/technology experience
- 5 years clinical experience in anesthesia, 4 years supervisory experience, 2+ years I.S./I.T experience is preferred.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Management and training skill! s.
- Previous experience with clinical data system implementatio! n.
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.
