 Collection of money for all self pay accounts  Daily interaction with hospital OR, OB, and Admitting Staff; Physician Office Staff  Review and preparation of anesthesia records for scanning to corporate billing  Assists with resolution of billing issues

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Patient Liaison:
 Private Pay Patients: contacts patients for financial arrangements for payment; follows up to determine if patient arrangements are being met  Enters patient payments into Corporate IPAYX payment system; prepares self pay log for submission to corporate  Preparation of anesthesia records and daily scanning of records to Corporate Billing  Responds to requests from corporate billing on concurrency issues  Maintains self pay files  Investigates billing complaints and works with Corporate Billing to resolve  Ensures adequate supply of patient brochures at all service locations  Communication with Mothers-to-Be regarding upcoming delivery, ie how to arrange for an epidural; pre-registration; answering general questions, payment  Daily communication with patients concerning anesthesia rates, refunds, insurance, other billing inquiries  Communication and interaction with patients/facility staff for hardship requests  Works with Corporate Billing Dept. for courtesy requests for patients expressing hardship  Daily communication with off-site offices

  • Assist with typing and maintaining schedule updates on website and daily notification to staff for all schedules: Doctor Call Schedule, CRNA Schedule, Off-Site Schedule, Vacation Schedule, Universal Numbers
  • Responds to subpoena’s requesting patient medical/financial information; daily interaction/communication with law firms requesting patient medical records/billing requests
  • Responds to inquiries from Hospital Quality Department and assists nurse reviewers to resolve issues/discrepancies in patient anesthesia record
  • Assists/covers for Administrative Billing Specialist in his absence.
Requirements

SKILLS:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with physician office staff, and hospital staff
  • Effective communication with patients and ability to collect payment
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer skills with working knowledge of word and excel
  • Ability to maintain strict patient and business confidentiality; and follow HIPAA laws
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent of education and experience, preferably in a hospital or physician office setting.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, ability to read a patient medical record, and knowledge of billing and collections.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be honest and trustworthy at all times; this position requires the handling of money collected from patients.
  • Demonstrate sound worth ethics
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimal physical effort.
  • Moderate noise levels.
  • Lifting required up to twenty pounds.
  • Close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus are required.
  • Works in a clean, well-lighted and ventilated environment with no apparent exposure to physical hazard
